The Learning Tree seeks mature, dedicated and highly dependable individuals to help enhance the quality of life for children and adolescents, ages 2-21, with intellectual disabilities and severe behavior problems.

 

Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBAs) and Special Education Teachers interested in working with any of our programs at any of our locations should submit a curriculum vita to Ken Atkins, Director of Employee Development at katkins@learning tree.org.

Below is a brief description of the programs provided by our organization:

  • Our Residential Schools are located in Birmingham, Jacksonville, Tallassee, and Mobile, serving children ages 6-21. We offer 24-hour residential care in a home like setting within the community that is individualized to their special needs with their educational services provided at our community-based school.
  • Our Preschool programs are located in Anniston, Auburn, and Mobile. We provide intensive early intervention service to children as young 2 years old with intellectual disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The primary focus of intervention is language acquisition along with additional areas such as self-care, play, social, and pre-academics skills are taught in conjunction with language skills.
  • At Woody’s Song School in Mobile, we help children, ages 5-21 on the autism spectrum, increase their skills in the areas of language, socialization and cognitive skills while decreasing behaviors that interfere with their learning.
  • Applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy in a clinic setting is available for preschool and school-age children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Our clinics are located in Anniston, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile.
  • Our consultation and outreach services focus on increasing skills and reducing barriers (including maladaptive behaviors) in local school environments. The consultation program serves a variety of school aged students with intellectual disabilities in school systems across Alabama.
